I am sure most of you are already using the amazing Amazon Prime membership, which costs like $79 a year and you can enjoy free-shipping on products sold by amazon and also get it in 2 days!!!!!! I do enjoy the Amazon Prime service, and they also come with the free Amazon Instant Movies. What can beat that…before you ask, let me tell you about a company called ‘Google‘.

I know,  you know, everybody knows, Google is into everything now, they made a big mark with Android, revolutionized the smart-phone operating systems with free source, have been getting into music industry, television sector, finance, books, cloud computing, you name it and Google is there.

So, now Google is planning to introduce the ultimate online shopping experience with a stiff competition to Amazon Prime and eBay Now. The multi billion dollar company has come up with the same-day shopping with it’s new service – Google Shopping Express.

Google is already in the e-commerce industry with its Google Wallet and Google Shopping initiatives, but needs a focal point to concentrate on capturing the market share. According to what I have been reading, the Google Shopping Express service is supposed to be cheaper than the Amazon Prime memberhsip, maybe targeting around $65 to $69 per year and at the same time, providing same-day delivery of several of its merchandize being shipped from Target, Walmart, Walgreens and Safeway.

Is this related to BufferBox acquisition by Google?

Back in November of last year, Google acquired a company called BufferBox in the hopes of giving a jolt to the current delivery systems like UPS and Amazon. The fact of the matter is that the shipping industry is all broken today in the US and Google hopes to make it better by using BufferBox’s logistics and operations.

How can the mail delivery system be improved? Bufferbox realized the “pain” the mail consumers are facing today, when they come home to several junk mails either in their mailbox or shoved under their doorstep!!!! BufferBox will deliver all the mail to a more convenient “box” locations, like maybe near to your work location, where you can pick it up based on your convenience.

Coming back to the Google Shopping Express concept, one can see the two service coming together, and what Google had in their long-term vision for again taking over the e-commerce industry with effecient delivery system as well.

Today, BufferBox only operates in Canada, but Google finds that as a more easy place for their ‘trial’ runs before entering the US market. Google’s ways are unknown, and one can be sure that they put a lot of thought process when they get into a new sector or industry. They are gaining a foot-hold in every vertical possible, diversifying their business potential and reach to the consumers.

Over To You

Do you use any of these e-commerce sites for your online purchases? Which are the ones that are popular in India? I am sure there is a new site coming up every other day, but are they reliable? Do you look at the safety features before signing up and providing your personal and bank details?

I would love to hear from you about your experiences with online-shopping. Are you looking forward to this awesome service by Google? Do share your thoughts by leaving a comment below. Thanks for reading.
